2010 was such an ICEE year. We can’t believe how fast it's all gone by. It’s just so hot in the BASSMENT of 222 Hyde (where we live) that we have hardly noticed a change in the seasons. That said, our few ventures out of the house this year have been a blast. Remember Ikonika and Shortstuff’s takeover of the now-defunct Paradise Lounge? Or perhaps the ultimate XX showdown at Mezzanine? What about the spookiest L-Vis 1990 set ever at Elbo Room? Good vibes all around.

So for this New Years Eve, we've decided to go back out; ICEE HOT is heading back to the Elbo Room, where we last saw L-Vis blaze through some of the most forward-thinking house music in the world. This time, we've elected to bring his partner-in-bass BOK BOK with us. Bok Bok has made serious waves over the last year with some of the tuffest grimey house anthems like "Citizens Dub (feat. Bubbs)" to groundbreaking DJ sets and mixes (did you hear his XLR8R podcast??) to fronting the premiere new UK label NIGHT SLUGS. We couldn’t be more excited to have Mr. Bok with us on this very special night.

As if that wasn’t enough, we are also bringing out Hessle Audio’s RAMADANMAN, who also has helped define 2010 as one of the most forward-moving years in bass history. Consider Ramadanman’s output this year, from the gigantic anthems like “Glut,” “Grab Somebody,” and “Work Them,” to the slow-burning production of his remix of Jamie Woon's “Night Air” and his collaboration with Appleblim, “Void 23”. Hard to believe all that has happened within 12 months!

Here’s what Martin “Blackdown” Clark has to say in his 2010 roundup column on Pitchfork:

… Ramadanman came into such amazing form, upping his game from 2009. Consider his output: "Glut" [Hemlock], "Grab Somebody" [white], "Work Them" [Swamp 81], a six-track EP for Hessle, as well as a Pearson Sound 12" and a breathtaking 110 bpm mix for Jamie Woon's "Night Air".

"Work Them" illustrates how juke infiltrated the UK's consciousness via the Swamp 81 "dark 808ish" stable. "Glut" got hybridized with producer S-X's "Woooo" to find middle ground with grime. The Jamie Woon remix was so slow it couldn't be mixed into any of the above, yet it's so emotive it's up there with the best of Burial's work. Some of Ramadanman's drum programming hinted at jungle, increasing the percussive intensity without being overtly housey, helping his productions find new grit and edge.

Us ICEEs couldn’t think of a more fitting lineup to define this year and we cannot wait to kiss you all at midnight. Residents Ghosts on Tape, Disco Shawn, and Rollie Fingers will be there taking you on the ICEE journey.
